Although we appreciate good showmanship, we are not worried too much about some of the typical pressures of a modern yoga studio. We don't care so much who wears the most fancy clothing, demonstrates the most advanced asanas, has the most extensive training, recently read the most attention grabbing article, or even who has the most impressive class attendance record. (Don't get us wrong because thoughtfully applied, any combination of those items could certainly take you a long way.) However, we are focused on one thing...
At dmYOGA we focus on each and every human being that walks though the door. Because we believe that who you are, what you do, and why you do it, matters. Given a chance to be seen, believed in, and encouraged you'll easily live up to your highest potential. I found yoga at the YMCA in 2014 and went to maybe 10 classes over those 4 years. I loved the movements, but knew something was missing. I was seeking a deeper understanding, I wanted to feel yoga on a deeper level. I kept saying, I would start soon, but never did. Then, about a year ago, I lost someone very close to me. Someone who inspired me to get the most out of life. I realized that my own life could end at any moment and I didn’t want to waste another moment. About two weeks after losing a loved one, I put myself in a class at dmYOGA. Since then, yoga has taught me a lot! Not to try and control my thoughts, but learning to not let them control me. I have learned to sit alone with myself and enjoy the thoughts running through my head. I have learned to accept and improve my thoughts. I have learned that we are all equal and there is no need to compare myself to others. Yoga brings me happiness, peace, and enjoyment. I am constantly learning through my yoga practice, mentally and physically.
I work on technology at Pioneer that helps farmers. When I was young and growing up in India I noticed that it was the farmers who did the most work and got so little in return. So I'm doing my work for them. But I do yoga with this group because it helps me to feel less stressed and take care of my body. I'm so glad I was able to find an inspiring and mindful and like minded community of people!
I teach Art classes in the Waukee School District and get to interact with the future everyday. I use my yoga practice to help keep me centered and humble in my own life and so I can hold a positive influence on my students. With an open mind, I get to learn something new every time I step on my mat. My husband Nick loves my weekly treks to yoga class so he can spend some QT with our son Noah.
I work at a professional Architecture firm in Des Moines and manage a big team doing numerous and very complex projects all at the same time. I think yoga helps me to get out of my head and more into my body. Since I can't go fishing and camping everyday I figure I should make the time to get up and out of the office chair and meet my wife at the class. Its something we to look forward to doing together after the work day.

When you sign up for a monthly membership you are making a commitment to us and to yourself that you plan to come often and want to contribute to the cause of helping "To lift Des Moines and all beings everywhere to Higher Ground..." Your monthly membership supports the bigger picture of helping us host special events, bring things like fresh juice and snacks to class, as well as offer limited scholarship spaces to those in need.

We will do our best to help lift you up to new heights but we understand that life has many twists and turns and sometimes you miss a class that you wanted to attend.
We do want you to feel that you are getting the best deal possible. So, if you miss a class or two a month, you are welcome to bring a friend or new student with you to class as your guest.
Maybe its a co-worker, or a new student that just happened to walk in at the same time as you. Simply let them know to sign the waiver, sign in sheet, and mark them down as a guest.
Miss too many classes and we will see what we can do to help you get back on track or just easy breezy adjust your plan.
