AT YOGA ON THE FARM.

MAIN BIO:

Drew is a passionate but humble yogi and a creative instructor who enjoys teaching in the moment. His goal is to take a unique approach to each group class with unscripted movement rather than using repeated stock commentary or "off the shelf" sequences. Although there are critical moments of repetition to build consistency,  each class is an entirely unique experience.

Holding high hopes to help each student identify their own experience of present moment awareness. Drew nurtures that seed of presence by helping each participant explore and dive deeply into their body and notice their subtle patterns.

Expect insightful conversation, clear instructions, consciously connected breath, and a mature and sensitive approach when offering guidance, alignment, adjusts, and assists. Once nurtured, he hopes that seed of presence will grow into a strong sense of self awareness, confidence, and ownership in each practitioners journey to their own personal practice.

Drew has loads of experience putting together events and leading students with a wide range of abilities. He has led packed classes every week at the downtown ymca since 2010 as well as annual classes for events like yoga in the park at grays lake. Needless to say you're in good hands and are sure to find a challenge or a healthy dose of inspiration no matter what your experience level may be.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A YOGI

ASANA IS NOT YOGA

although IT Sure HELPS...

EVERYONE ALWAYS WANTS TO KNOW:

"How long have you been doing Yoga?" and "What kind of yoga do you do?".

I've been a yogi my whole life, or perhaps many lifetimes. I started taking "modern yoga" classes at the Downtown Des Moines YMCA in 2008 and have been teaching since 2009. Although I had never learned about yoga philosophy, or had certainly never even heard of yoga when I was growing up in rural Iowa, I have been blessed to be on a journey of self-inquiry and awareness since my earliest memories.

Fast forward 30+ years and I both "do and teach yoga" as it's seen and understood by so many on the modern stage.  I could help give you a personalized, colorful, and articulate definition of yoga to help you understand its goals, but I know yoga cannot be described by words. It must be felt.

Yoga is not something to recite, regurgitate, or reveal.  Yoga is an experience. The experience of seeing your life as truly Divine and seeing all things in your life as Divinity.

I believe everyone we meet holds the possibility to lead us into something higher and greater than our current understanding.  To that end, the world -and you yourself- are my teachers.

I'd love to share my personal experience and tell you exactly what got me to where I am today. Just reach out and let me know you are interested and what brought you to yoga.

Finding You

Finding You

Finding you:

"Better to be a grasshopper free in the fields than to be a master with followers galore. Grasshoppers answer to no one, masters answer to all..." ~ Dr. DreamingBear

Place your hand over your heart. Take one long slow deep breath. Take one long very deep breath. This is all it takes to pause. To notice. To tune in, and turn into the rhythm of your own heart beating.

You matter. I matter. We all matter. We are all on our own path and we walk this earth as equals. Keep coming back to this. Believe in all the good things coming and know that you are blessed.
